To everyone within the Orara High School community ... welcome back to learning, collaboration and growth for 2024. I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer vacation and you feel refreshed, ready to bring your best selves to Orara from the first day of the new Term.
We look forward to welcoming our Year 7 students and assisting them with their transition to high school. It is exciting to welcome such a large number of new students - 170 in Year 7 and over 800 in total for Years 7-12. To all students across every year group - whether you are new to us or continuing from last year - we welcome you to the new school year. Please set your sights high and involve yourself in as many of the opportunities and experiences that will be on offer. Set your goals high and try to go beyond them. As a staff we are here to advise and guide - how much you achieve is largely your own responsibility. Please enjoy the challenge and rewards of striving to be better in every way. We are also welcoming some wonderful new staff to our team and we look forward to each one feeling a part of the team as soon as possible.
As a school we had many achievements to celebrate last year and I look forward to the many things that will be achieved by individuals and teams throughout 2024. We have high expectations of every student and staff member, and I feel that if we are all true to this individually, as a school we will continue to achieve great things. This year I look forward to creating many more opportunities for parents and carers to be involved with the school so that everyone has a chance to contribute to our ongoing improvement.
I am very proud to be your principal and look forward to working with all throughout 2024.
Best Regards
Malcolm McFarlane
